Multipurpose submerged arc furnaces of small power (250-500 KVA) are
intended for producing ferroalloys and fused refractories. Smelting of
initial charge is performed with the help of two graphitized electrodes
in the furnace body lined with refractories and /or carbon blocks. Heat
is released by electric current in the arcs and partly in the charge and
also by exothermic reactions.
Dry-type furnace transformers have 10 voltage steps and provide
according to the user demand the series (bifilar) or parallel
connections of electrodes.
The
furnaces are equipped with frequency-regulated electromechanical drives
and automatic controllers of electrode movement as a function of
electric parameters of the arc gap. The control cabinets of the furnaces
are manufactured on Siemens component base.
