Bimetal Water-Cooled Moulds, Base Plates and Hearth Electrodes

The technology of electroslag bimetal castings production is based on providing solid and reliable connection of steel and copper billets of needed cross-section and form in the course of the electroslag process the extention transient zone being as small as some micrones.
This method is used for fabrication of bimetal (copper-steel) items of heavy duty: molds, anods of d.c. electric arc furnaces, parts of the furnace heavy current line, heat exchangers of complicated form etc.
Advantage of the method is a possibility of production of complicated form water-cooled articles by welding steel parts of electroslag bimetal modules, featuring simultaneously strength properties of steel and electrical and heat characteristics of copper.
