Heat insulating lids are intended for
decreasing heat losses and gas emission from ladles in the course of
their transportation and teeming of metal. Heat insulating lids consist
of ribbed metal casings, lined with light fibred refractory materials.
The use of insulating lids provides 1,1-1,4 time decrease in metal melt
cooling rate (what is particularly important for continuous casting
process) and corresponding reduction of specific through energy consumption
for production
of final metal products. Simultaneously the 10-15 % increase of ladle lining
service life is achieved thanks to decrease in temperature
fluctuations and gradients on
the working surface of lining.
