Installations for arс heating of metal in tundish are intended for maintaining metal temperature in the course of continuous  casting at controlled level. The installation comprises two pillars with moved along them carriages  with graphitized electrodes; a furnace  transformer, the system of current leads and control desk.
     The electrodes are connected to the transformer (s) in accordance with a bifilar scheme, which provides a high magnitude of power factor.
     The heating of metal is performed by arcs burning between electrode tips and metal surface.
The preset arc length and power are provided by regulating carriages movement rate and changing  the transformer voltage steps. The installation rum does not demand any change in the construction of the tundish or connection of it with current leads.
